The two Leman Russ Battle Tanks aproached the battle wrecked city of Genna Triarius. For weeks the brave population had fought against the intruding Chaos hordes, it wasn't until General Mustaffa of the 19th Catachan regiment was called in that things began to look better.
The two tanks, Emperors War-cry and the Reaper of souls began to prepare themselves for battle, inside the Emperors War-cry commander Storzak briefed his men on what they would be expecting. "I don't need to tell you that the hordes of Chaos are nasty and vile. But that giant bird is one mean ass-hole, killing him is paramount." he said as he pointed to the huge form of the Greater Daemon of Tzeentch.
A shreik echoed through the city, a Lascannon shot hit the Reaper of souls, a loud thud. The reinforced armour of the tank shrugged of the assault as it carried onwards. "What in the Emperors name was that." yelled Tank Commander Reik.
A huge, piercing shriek resounded through the ruined alleys as the huge shape of the Greater Daemon loomed into view of the two tanks, it turned to face them.
"By the Emperors blood." muttered Drok, the Battle Cannon gunner for the Emperors War-cry. "Hold your tongue Drok, that foul abomination has nothing to do with the Emperor." replied Storzak.
"Fire when ready." Growled Reik. The Reaper of souls recoiled as the battle cannon fired, the huge sheel streaked onwards, it crashed into the gound. Huge chunks of earth showered up. The Lascannon and Heavy Bolters fired next, the sound was immense, all hits struck home. However, the Greater Daemon seem oblivious to the carnage, black eyes stared at the Reaper of souls.
A flickering light appeared over the huge monster as a crimson bolt stormed across the battle-field into the Reaper of souls. Black smoke billowed out of the stricken tank. "Get the hell outa here." Roared Gritz, the over zealous Lascannon gunner. The back of the tank opened up as the crew ran out. A volley of shots rang out from the Thousand Sons Marines. "Everyone here." Shouted Reik. The crew glanced at each other. "Hey, wheres Sartassa?" Gritz shouted.
Sartassa, the Battle Cannon gunner was trapped in the turret. "Open up, F*****g thing. I SAID OPEN!!". A fire started in the hull. "Shit. Shit. SHIT!!." Sartassa felt the flames draw nearer. Reik heard the screams and thought to himself "I can live a coward or die a hero." that decison took less than a second to make. Drawing his Bolt-pistol, Reik charged to the damaged tank, a volley of shots erupted from the buildings, however the commander dodged them easily. Throwing himself onto the tank, Reik shot at the turret hatch. The hatch flew inwards.
Reik grabbed hold of Sartassa who was know unconscious. Slinging him over his shoulder, Reik ran back to his men. "Praise the Emperor. He is to live."
Opening the turret hatch, Storzak challenged the foul Daemon. "We're ready for you, I just hope your ready for us." He shouted. The huge Daemon turned to face him, black eyes pierced the Commanders soul. It was if he was staring into the eyes of death and all he saw was pure terror. Immense panic gripped the Commander, he wanted to bolt the hatch down and retreat. Storzak knew that was not possible. "FIRE" Roared the brave Tank Commander. A tremendous explosion rang out from the tank. The shell hurtled across its path, striking the foul abomination.
No flicker of protection came this time. Shards of shrapnel scattered everywhere, the huge monster shreiked one final time. A huge secondary explosion occured as the two Heavy Bolters rang out, almost cutting the dieing creature in half. "Nothing could survive that." uttered Drok. "And nothing will." Cackled Jeter, the Lascannon gunner as he fired the finishing shot. The crimson beam blasted into the Daemon, black smoke apeared as its very flesh dissolved.
A loud cheer resounded throughout the ruined city
as the Imperial army charged head long into the Chaos Space Marines. The
battle was short. With the carnage over the people of Genna Triarius can
rest easily. The Tanks of the Imperial Guard have once again cleansed the
unclean.
