Info: A newly formed merc unit has just landed on a planet recently taken by a merc unit that had gone pirate. The unit fighting the pirates was called Burn Out's Battalion and was really just a Company. The unit they were given info on was supposted to be a poor merc unit that turned pirate so they could refit on the planet. But unfortunately these were no poor unit of mercs but a well trained merc unit with a ruthless leader.
"This is Ronin to Burn Out, Colonel do you read me over?" "Yes Ronin, I read you have you entered the city yet?" "No sir we located vibro bombs at the entrance of the city when one went off for some reason." I hated to say it but the recon mission was becoming a pain. "Ronin procede immediately to the city, I dont care how you get in there just do it!" This mission was taking a toll on the Colonel also. Being a new unit everyone wanted a piece of the action and yet the Colonel and I seemed to be the only ones looking out for our lances. "Yes Sir, Ronin Out." I rammed the throttle all the way up on my CN9-A Centurion as I opened the com link to my lance. "This is Sargeant Doyle here I want Mutt and Firefly to fire on the ground in front of the city maybe we can set off the mine field." Two resounding 'Yes Sirs' came almost a millisecond before they fired. "Look at the fire works!" Mutt yelled as he fired his LRMs into the mine field. Now that they had landed on Dovetail everyone was out for blood after sitting in the dropship for two weeks who wouldn't? "All right Mutt you take Johnson with you and enter the front of the city, I'll take Firefly with me and go through the back and I'll meet you in the center ok?" I was already waiting when Mutt entered the city and I plunged in right after him. "Anyone picking anything up yet?" "No sir." Just as he said that a Hunchback came bursting through a wall on my left facing Mutt. The Hunchback opened up on Mutt with his AC 20 sending a rain of death into the building next to him. Finally Two rounds slammed home with Mutt's Assasin sending it to the ground and destroying his left arm. By this time I had my sights on the Hunchbacks back and fired my own autocannon sending two shells of depleated Uranium into the Hunchbacks right torso and fired my medium laser to hopefully set off the bastard's ammo. The result was awesome. The Hunchback's ammo began to cook off and it exploded in a giant fireball as the engine exploded in a bright flash sending the building next to in to the ground on top of Mutt. "Mutt respond." "Ughh I'm alright Sarg but my head hurts like hell and my mech could be better." "All right gentlemen lets watch it no more surprises." I wipped the swet off my face. I should have seen that coming was all that I could think about. "Sir we have an incoming light mech from the north I think its a Locust." Firefly quickly spat out the words. Every one was nervous the suprise attack in the city had startled everyone not to mention myself. "This is Ronin to Support Lance the city is clear you may setup defensive postions in the city we will handle the Locust." "Thanks for clearing the city Ronin we will be there in a minute." I didn't even reply I was watching the Locust. It was turning tale and running. "Firefly, Johnson nail that bastard!" "Yes sir!" They both took of running after the mech. Something was strange. Why didn't the Locust help the Hunchback and why did the Hunchback attack so soon? Johnson and Firefly were heading to the columns. So was the Locust. "Johnson, Firefly pull back its a trap!" Just as I said that a lance worth of Assualt mechs came out from there hiding spots. They were only 1.9 klicks from the Dropship and no one was guarding it. "Colonel this is Ronin, we have enemy assault mechs heading for the dropship!" All I got was static. My lance was the closest and without radio communications he had to stop the attack. Already everyone was racing towards the dropship but my lance was the only one who could reach it before they did. Not to mention the fact that a Charger was bearing down on me. The mech seemed giant and all I could do was hope I could pull this off.
I snapped my mech's head around just in time to catch a glipse of the Charger that had advanced to my position and was heading right at me. With out even really thinking I brought up my autocannon and opened fire at the same time a flight of LRMs flew from my mech's chest arcing in on the Charger. Of the ten LRMs I fired eight hit mangling the armor around the Charger's right leg which only seemed to irritate the pilot more. My medium laser dug deeply into the already malled leg adding to the damage as it bubbled off armor. My autocannon slug found its mark right on the Charger's head nearly crushing the cockpit of the mech. The Pilot of the Charger only seemed momentarly stunned and began to close the range between our mechs. I had to admit this pilot had balls. He kept comming even though his mech was being torn apart by my weaponry. He finally opened up with all of his small lasers but only one hit on my mech's left shoulder sending some armor into boiling slag. I must have damaged his sensors because his fire was horribly off balance. I saw his mech raise his arm ready to no doubt bash my head in but his punch landed well to the left of my head hitting nothing. I wasn't going to let him turn this into a slugging match that I couldn't win so I brought my Autocannon up reluctently and fired a round into his head. His mech slumped backwards and landed heavily on the ground with a large clang as it hit the concrete. I felt sorry for the pilot he was a worthy enemy, but I had to forget that now because his friends which were very much alive and were looking for vengence.
The dead Charger lay in front of me and I could see that his comrades were full of anger. A boxy Archer crested the hill and let loose with both of its LRM's. A full flight of the missles crashed uselessly onto the fallen Charger tearing its already mangled armor up the other flight landed right in front of it sending clods of dirt raining down on my mech with the shrapnel from the dead Charger. It was time to move. I twisted my torso in the direction of the Archer and throttled up my engine as I let a flight of my own missles go. Only two hit on the Archer's left leg hardly enough to send it to the ground. I then fired three round from my Autocannon as his own LRM's arched at me. One of the rounds missed but the other two hit his left leg one hitting his mech's knee cap and the other hitting his mech's thigh. His mech staggered but remained up right. One of the LRM flights went wide but the other struck home hitting my left torso and arm gouging deep pits in my armor. I stranded to keep my mech up right and I could see on my damage indicator that my armor on that section was in the yellow. I then let fly another batch of LRMs and two shots from my Autocannon. The LRMs struck the center torso all ten of them but what was important was the fact that my autocannon rounds hit his mangled left leg. His mech's leg crumpled under the weight of itself and slammed into the ground. I would worry about him latter I had to get to the dropship. Letting my torso snap back into place I raced towards the dropship.
I had reached the drop ship and noticed that all of my friendly mechs were still to far away except my lance which was taking on a lance of recon mechs. I tried the radio again but still all I got was static. I checked my radar again and found two red dots very close to my position. Only 900 meters from my current position. I could easily run to the dropship and take off but I was here to fight. About 500 meters away was a small city. I quickly throttled up and headed over there. If these SOBs wanted a fight they would get one.
As I entered into the city I noticed how clean and orderly everything was and how narrow the streets were. I brought my Centurion to a halt and check on my ammo and heat levels. I was now down to 11 rounds in my autocannon I still had enough ammo for my LRMs and my armor wasn't that bad off. Now it was time to hide. The enemy units were reading as unknowns so I had no idea what to expect what was comming at me. The closest enemy unit had entered the North side of the city I had conceled my self in warehouse on the southside. I decied to take a look out of the warehouse. Rumbling down the center road was a Patton Tank. It had yet to notice me so I decied to let him know I was here. I set my autocannon for full auto now since I didn't have to worry about an other mechs showing up. I peeked my head out again and slowly aimed my autocannon at his treads. His turret was sweeping the area around his mech when the first rounds connect with his treads knocking a tread off his tank grounding it to a halt. He immediately responded by raining autocannon fire in my direction. The thin aluminum siding of the warehouse as I ducked the incoming rounds. I took my chances and ran out into the open duming to more autocannon rounds into the thickly plated turret of the tank. He responded by firing a flight of LRM's at my mech which crashed into a building behind me setting it on fire. I ran strait through another warehouse on my right and ducked down. I listened through my external speakers to see if I had sent the crew running. All I heard was a low grounding noise. I pushed my mech's head around the huge hole in the wall and saw the tank. It instantly sent rounds from its autocannon at me but I noticed after looking out again that they had missed me. The turret had locked in place my autocannon rounds must have warped it armor enough to lock it in place. I stepped into view and aimed down at the tank. The crew countiued to try to move it. But they tried in vain. "Surrender now." I yelled over my loud speaker and the hatch popped open. I zoomed in to see what the crew was up to. They were all giving me the finger. Fine screw 'em all. I just took one of the other alleys and tried to see where this other mech had gone. The fire the tank had started was now a raging inferno and the city was mostly one fire. My heat was now rising steadily. Out of the flames stepped a Shadow Hawk. It instantly fired a flight of SRMs in my direction. Two hit my right torso but the rest hit the building behind me sending a brick wall down on top of my mech. The computer started to shreak when I saw that my LRMs were jammed. No need for excess ammo was one of the first thoughts so I ejected the ammo. I fired back at the Shadow Hawk with my autocannon and medium laser stricking it in the chest. That mech must have been hotter then hell because it was glowing like a christmas tree on my Infared scanners. I jumped into a building next door to me and he did the same. I pushed my autocannon out from behind the wall I cashed through and sprayed the street with uranium depeleted rounds. The Shadow Hawk did the same with his autocannon. Then the strangest thing happened. I walked my mech out into the open. The other mech did too. As the city burned to the ground around us there we stood, face to face. It was almost like an old western show down. Almost like slow motion we raised our weapons and then we opened up. Autocannon rounds ripped up the Shadow Hawk's torso and its Autocannon found its mark also both mechs were slamed into the ground and thats all that I can remember because I was knocked out. They said two hours latter they found the other mechwarrior trying to pry my cannopy open. Her mech had been almost completely destroyed but she had somehow servived and was now my prisoner. My mech had gone through a lot. My gyros were shot and my left arm was mangled horribly and was replaced but I had saved the dropship. They found the crew of the tank was burned alive by the fire. They had decided to stick it out in the tank to the last and had payed the ultimate price for it. The battle was over but not the war.
